Students come to International Horizons College (IHC) from across the United Arab Emirates and more than 33 other nations. Ethnically and culturally diverse, our students differ in their educational backgrounds, interests, and ages. Their professional aspirations are also multifaceted: some wish to pursue careers in business or public service; others as engineers, IT professionals, and scientists; and still others as teachers. Despite their distinct cultures, different academic preparations, and personal and professional objectives, IHC students share a common goal: to use their time at IHC to challenge themselves (and each other) to reach their fullest potential. Whether IHC graduates continue to pursue their Bachelor degrees at the University of Vermont or Rutgers University in the United States; Symbiosis University in India; IHC’s other partner universities; or any other international university, they will have been provided the tools to navigate the rapidly transforming challenges of global citizenship in the 21st century.
IHC recognizes itself as a unique Dubai-based international educational hub for the Middle-East, North Africa, and South Asia. Notwithstanding IHC’s relatively small size, its dynamic students already come from all over the world. We have had students enrolled from Afghanistan, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, the UAE, UK, US, and Yemen. IHC has positioned itself as a unique global institution extremely well-suited to expand the international horizons of each member of its vibrant global community.
The best way to get to know IHC’s students and faculty is to visit campus and meet them. IHC Student Testimonials
Major: Environmental Management
The intimate classroom settings at IHC make student – teacher communication much easier and each student is given priority, as well as IHC being a liberal arts college, which allows students to broaden their knowledge and it really shows how different topics correlate with each other. I feel that really helps with my major in Environmental Management. I have always been interested in the environment and wildlife ever since I was a kid. My aspiration in life is to be someone, who can actually do something to preserve our earth’s – already depleting - natural resources. International Horizons College has literally inspired me to achieve my goals in life and I’ve never been so excited to find out what’s coming up next.
IHC regularly grants students the opportunities to learn from working professionals by holding entrepreneurship, leadership, and business seminars, providing internship offers to work with the IT and faculty departments, hosting filmmaking workshops, and setting college hours, where students, faculty and staff partake in relevant discussions and activities. The IHC student body is very effective in operating student programs, and enriching the college life experience, through organizing various tournaments, Thursday trips and cultural events.
Major: General transfer
Over the past months, I have had the opportunity to study with individuals from all over the world. It has also been a tremendous learning experience to interact and learn with people from such a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Moreover, being elected as Student Council secretary, I discovered leadership skills within me. IHC gave me the opportunity to be confident, something I lacked during my high school years.
In addition to my academic expectations being surpassed, it has most certainly been the sense of community and family that separates the IHC experience apart from any other.
Major: Science/ Engineering
Being one of the oldest and the first students at IHC, it’s safe to say that my experience has been the most different. Seeing all the positive things on campus evolve, seeing the vision and mission of IHC slowly come to life makes me feel exceptionally proud to be part of the first batch. From starting up Music and Gaming clubs to taking a wide array of classes that have affected my personality in a fundamental way, it’s humbling to think how far I’ve come in the past two years. For all this, I have the superb faculty and teachers at IHC to thank for making my college experience one of the most treasured portions of my life.
The students at IHC have warmth and closeness I wouldn’t expect in large colleges, here professors know every student’s name and take the time to make sure each student does well. IHC has become more than just a place where students come and study. It has become a place where we bond and have become a family.
IHC has been a unique experience. It brings different nationalities and people together. Students and staff members are very friendly and they go out of their way to help others. The professors have great knowledge in their respective subjects and make the class more entertaining. It never gets boring at IHC.
Major: Liberal Arts
IHC provides opportunity to students to go abroad to places in US to complete their higher education. I have been at IHC for three months now and have had several exciting experiences. The college classes are four days a week. Once a month on our day off, an event is planned so that students can mingle, make friends and get closer to one another. Although there is a large variety of subjects, I especially like learning about the UAE, the Arab History and learning to mingle with locals in this country through Arabic language and culture.
